Nestled deep within ancient woodland in the Lake District, Forest Pavilion is a 220m² single-storey dwelling conceived as a series of interconnected rooms beneath a folded timber roof. The plan spirals gently around a central courtyard, drawing the forest floor into the heart of the home. Floor-to-ceiling glazing dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior, while deep overhangs provide shelter and shadow. Materials are deliberately restrained: Douglas fir structure, lime-washed walls, and polished concrete floors that reflect the changing light of the canopy above. The house sits lightly on the ground, raised on screw piles to preserve the root systems of surrounding trees.
