Coastal Retreat is a 280m² dwelling perched on the rugged Cornish coastline. The brief called for a home that would feel as though it had always been there — weathered, grounded, and entirely at ease with its surroundings. We responded with a structure of locally sourced green oak and Delabole slate, arranged to follow the natural contours of the cliff. Every room frames the Atlantic; every material ages with grace. The house collects rainwater, generates its own energy, and returns to the earth what it borrows. It is a building that breathes with the tides.
