On the Nature of Light in Architecture

Light is the medium through which architecture is experienced. Without light, there is no space — only void. The quality of light within a building determines not just how we see a room, but how we feel within it.

In our practice, we begin every project by studying the path of the sun across the site. We map shadows at the solstices and equinoxes. We observe how light enters existing structures — how it pools on a floor, how it washes a wall, how it changes through the day.

This is not a technical exercise. It is an act of attention. Architecture that ignores light is architecture that ignores life.
